Who We Are

Picture
ABOUT-FACE is located in a peaceful area of San Diego East County, Crest California.  We strive to offer a safe and tranquil place that encourages change by expanding awareness of the personal healing process.  Whether these changes are physical, relational, emotional or spiritual, ABOUT-FACE Equine Assisted Therapy believes that the healing that occurs at an individual level ripples forth to other areas of a person's life including to the realms of family and community.

Why Horses?

Picture
ABOUT-FACE encourages the exploration of a deeper consciousness between mind and heart and believes that interaction with horses is exceptionally enlightening and beneficial to this process.  Working with horses facilitates moving to the crux of the problem more quickly, because horses are so adept at reading body language. The power embedded in the deeper consciousness and the self awareness that can arise when working with a horse allows individuals to create by choice relationships based on trust.  This opens up the possibility of transforming fear into respect and, in turn, respect may illicit compassionate responses.  When the human spirit connects with that of the horse, both spirits are transformed and empowered.  The synergy assists with the reconnection to intuition and feelings while addressing issues like trust, leadership, communication, cooperation versus competition, respect and responsibility.  ABOUT-FACE
honors every individual's healing journey and hope to facilitate the evolution of the process.  The horses and natural environment of the ranch provide the integral psycho-spiritual portals through which the journey begins.

ABOUT-FACE Equine Assisted Therapy is innovative because sessions are conducted on the ground, there are no riding activities; this allows focusing on skills that need to be addressed instead of focusing on learning to ride.  It’s about interacting with horses so the veterans can learn more about themselves.  Horses mirror human feelings, and give immediate feedback through non-verbal cues, so people can take those cues and better understand themselves. It's not about horsemanship, it's about overcoming fears and frustrations-just by working with a horse.
